So you guys know the actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt, right? Well he's made his own production company...online. It's called HitRECord, which is pronounced as either Hit Record or Hit REcord. Clever! 

 HOW IT WORKS 

Basically, anyone can upload content onto the site. Then anyone who is part of the community can download and remix/change your content to create something new with it, the goal eventually being to make films. If anything should be made into something (like a full length feature film) all parties split the profits. THE VIDEO ABOVE EXPLAINS IT ALL.

"EEK!" some of you copyright connoisseurs might be saying, but wait...if you create something specifically to be remixed on the site, then who cares? This creative experiment is not for the © faint! 

If making films and animations is not your thing that's cool, because images can be uploaded, music, writing/scripts, and voice-overs. Check out the video Morgan and Destiny's Eleventh Date below. It was created with user content (particularly the drawings) and was screened at Sundance this year.

Peculiar Bliss

You have to check out Peculiar Bliss. It's run by our own CT based designer Vaughn Fender. PB is a website devoted to a constant stream of doodles and images in hopes of inspiring creative thinking. They also have a PDF 'zine (now in it's second issue with an interview with Southern Cali based artist Charmaine Olivia) and they are open to accepting submissions.

It's a good start to get involved in 'zine's like this. It gets your name out there, you get to make something to expand your portfolio, you learn how to interact with other artist + designers (even if it is through email), and it's FUN! No pressure, just bliss.
